Premature EjaculationIf there is a single condition that could be characterised as universal in males it would likely be premature ejaculation. It has been estimated that between 25-40% of men regularly ejaculate prematurely, while virtually every sexually active man has, at one point or another, ejaculated during sex before he is good and ready. While the condition affects almost every man on the planet it is also poorly understood by most people. In fact, there isn't even a recognised definition for what constitutes premature ejaculation. So what does the term ‘premature ejaculation' mean? The most basic definition of premature ejaculation is simply this: ejaculation that occurs within two minutes of penetration. This is, however, a less than satisfying definition. What if, for instance, a couple has engaged in extended foreplay? If they are both adequately aroused then penetrative sex could last nothing more than a minute or so before they climax. Few people would class this as ‘premature', and the man would almost certainly feel that he had nothing to be ashamed of.
Problems arise, though, when ejaculation occurs shortly after penetration from a ‘cold start' – that is, without any kind of foreplay. Not only is this situation embarrassing for the man but it can also be disappointing for his partner. If this sort of thing happens only occasionally there should be nothing to worry about. After all, we can't be sexual dynamos every day. When it begins to occur regularly, though, it may be a good idea to try to identify the cause of this poor performance. So, what causes premature ejaculation?Well, there are as many causes of premature ejaculation as there are grains of sand in the Sahara – some physical, some mental; some benign, and some that require action. First of all, let's consider the most obvious. If you're overly excited you're much more likely to pop in a couple of minutes. Most men have experienced this, and there's a simple solution. If you know you're going to have sex tonight, why not simply masturbate in the afternoon? Get rid of some of that pent-up sexual energy so you can perform at your best on the night. This is especially true when you haven't had sex in a while, and it's really nothing to worry about. The second most likely problem is simply that you're inexperienced. Again, this is nothing to worry about. As time goes on and you become more experienced you'll develop better control over yourself. You'll learn to recognise the signs that you're ready to burst and find a way to hold back – going over multiplication tables in your head is a time-honoured method, but you should be able to find a way that works for you. Unfortunately, there are several more serious causes of premature ejaculation. Stress, for instance, can play a large role. Depression, financial worries, the burdens of a high-pressure job or simply too much pressure to perform in bed can jinx you. These problems are usually transitory, but if you find your stress levels consistently affecting your sexual performance you may want to consider finding a way to channel that stress: therapy can help, as can simply talking to your partner about your concerns. There are also physiological causes of premature ejaculation. Many scientists now believe that there many men may be genetically predisposed to the problem, while others blame abnormally low levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin. The Solution? For the most part, premature ejaculation problems will go away on their own. Try not to worry, as obsessing over the problem may worsen the symptoms – especially if the cause is psychological in origin. For those who wish to take steps to avoid premature ejaculation there are several options to consider. Simple exercise programs such as PenisHealth (a program designed primarily for penis enlargement) can also aid in improving sexual stamina and promoting harder erections. These exercises help men gain greater control over their penises during sex, allowing them to better manage their climax. Alternatively, such programs as ProSolution and VolumePills (designed for penis enlargement and semen enhancement, respectively) both contain ingredients which help improve climax control. Both treatments are available without prescription, and are formulated from safe herbal ingredients. Before turning to alternative therapies it's always good advice that you examine the possible causes of your problem. It may be the case that you simply had a bad day. If the problems persist, however, you should know that there are solutions. You don't have to suffer in silence. |
